Dementia Unit

Planning ahead for care of a parent or loved one with dementia is critical. At The Alverno, we have a unit devoted entirely to the care of persons with dementia and Alzheimer’s. You will find that the majority of the rooms in this unit offer private accommodations. We invite and encourage you to bring items from home that provide comfort and memories for your loved one. Our unit also has a comfortable family room for relaxing and socializing.

Specific programming has been developed to assist residents in this unit to communicate their wishes and needs to our highly trained staff. Residents in our unit participate in activities designed to help preserve their memories. Members of our activity staff work with each resident and their family and friends to complete a “Getting to Know You Assessment” to help establish an individualized activity plan.

Residents in this unit also have the opportunity to enjoy the many activities offered throughout the building and participate in community outings.
